Strahmann Mixer. A continuous mixer (q.v.) of European origin that consists of a large horizontal cylindrical chamber which is divided into some 20 segments separated by restrictive ring plates and through which passes a central rotating shaft provided with variously pitched impellers. As the dough (q.v.) advances through the cylinder, it is subjected to increasing pressure and receives the desired degree of physical development (q.v.). The unit is equipped with a rotary scaling (q.v.) device.
