Two new bakery shortenings from Loders Croklaan eliminate trans fats from products and reduce the saturated fat content as well. SansTrans VLS 30, an all-purpose shortening, offers a 30% reduction in saturated fat, while holding annual shortening costs constant. SansTrans VLS 40, an emulsified shortening, allows reduction of saturated fat by 15% and decreases shortening costs by 10% annually. Both are specifically designed for cookie, cake and muffin applications and can improve overall nutritional profiles by reducing total fat and total calories from fat.
