Nut-based expandable pellets

A nut dough passes through an extruder to form a nut-based intermediary product, or pellet, which can be stored for up to six months. Starch pellets can then be mixed with the nut-based pellets or small nut pieces and cooked to form a snack chip. That snack is formed by compressing and cooking the pellet mixture, expanding it and compressing it again.
