MANHATTAN — Kansas State University has received a grant from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to create a course on combustible dust generation and explosion hazards in grain handling facilities. OSHA will give K.S.U. $120,000 to develop the program. The training will be provided to workers and supervisors employed in small grain elevators, flour mills and feed mills. K.S.U. will develop training materials, including course materials, hand-outs with pictorial explanations and an instructional DVD. Materials will be available in English and Spanish. A train-the-trainer component will be included. OSHA awarded 72 recipients nationwide with $10.7 million in safety training grants.
