DECATUR, ILL. — Gary Towne and Domingo Lastra have been named to new management positions at Archer Daniels Midland Co., effective Nov. 5.

Mr. Towne has been named vice-president of ADM Corn Processing. He most recently was chairman of the management board of Alfred C. Toepfer International G.m.b.H. (ACTI), a global grain merchandising company of which ADM owns 80%. Prior to that, Mr. Towne was manager of global risk and ethanol at ADM. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University.

Mr. Lastra will succeed Mr. Towne as chairman of the management board of ACTI. Mr. Lastra most recently was vice-president of business growth at ADM, and earlier was president of ADM South America. He joined ADM in 1994 and has held a range of merchandising, operations and logistics management roles. He received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Belgrano in Argentina and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois.
