WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken during August was 251,333,000 lbs, up 14% from July and up 8% from August 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report.
August production of edible liquid whole eggs was 150,515,000 lbs, up 11% from July and up 3% from August 2011; liquid whites were 67,381,000 lbs, up 20% from July and up 18% from August 2011; liquid yolks were 33,437,000 lbs, up 17% from July and up 16% from August 2011.
Shell eggs broken in August were 195,689,000 dozen, up 13% from July 2012 and up 8% from August 2011.
January – August production of edible whole eggs was 1,089,474,000 lbs, down slightly from 1,092,842,000 lbs during the same period of the previous year; whites were 483,893,000 lbs, up 3%; yolks were 246,555,000 lbs, up 3%; and total edible liquid was 1,819,922,000 lbs, up 1%.
