LENEXA, KAS. — A fire broke out at a Caravan Ingredients’ production facility in Grandview, Mo., in the early morning of Oct. 9, but it was quickly contained, according to Lenexa-based Caravan Ingredients. The ester plant in Grandview produces stearoyl lactylates, distilled monoglycerides, spray chilled emulsifiers and fats, and hydrated monoglycerides.

The fire started on the third floor in a dehumidification system. The Grandview and Kansas City fire departments contained the fire. Damage was limited to a single line.

The fire did not affect a distribution center next to the production facility. Caravan Ingredients does not anticipate any interruption to customer service or scheduled shipments.

“Safety continues to be the top priority within our manufacturing and distribution facilities,” Caravan Ingredients said. “We are grateful that this incident did not result in any harm to our valued employees.”
