WEST HAVEN, CONN. — Watson Inc., a bakery ingredients supplier, closed its West Haven offices today “out of concern for the safety of our employees and their families” in advance of the potential weather event that may impact the East coast in the form of Hurricane Sandy. Several states, including Connecticut, already have declared a state of emergency.

Watson said it held hurricane preparation meetings with company management and put procedures in place to minimize the potential impact on business.

“We greatly appreciate the confidence you have placed in Watson, and we will work diligently to continue to live up to your expectations throughout this potential event and into the future,” Watson said. “Our No. 1 goal will be to prevent any order delay. In the event that matters are out of our control, we will inform you of the impact on your order’s delivery as soon as possible. If the storm affects us it could first affect services like phone, power and internet. We will work diligently with phone, Internet and electrical providers to restore any lost services. We ask for your patience in this case as restoring those services are out of our control. We will also be working with our freight providers to stay up-to-date with any interruption or delay in service.”

Watson added it hopes the storm is a “non-event” for the company’s business, but it is prepared to do what is necessary to ensure the impact is minimal.
