LIVONIA, MICH. — Awrey Bakeries, one of the largest privately-owned bakers in the United States offering cookies, coffee cakes and bread, will sell its assets in an on-line auction Feb. 20-21. The company in late November issued a WARN notice announcing it may let go of its 157 workers unless a buyer or investor was found.

As part of the on-line auction next month, Awrey is offering dozens of pieces of baking equipment, including a muffin packaging line; sheet cake finishing, topping and flow wrapping line; and six 120,000-lb capacity bulk flour and sugar silos. For a full listing of the assets visit www.rabin.com.

Founded in 1910, Awrey Bakeries filed for bankruptcy protection in February 2005. The company subsequently was acquired in August 2005 by Monomoy Capital Partners, L.L.C. for approximately $25 million in partnership with Hilco Equity Management, L.L.C. Monomoy and Hilco then formed ABI Holdings Inc. to own Awrey.
