WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Oct. 17 announced the cancellation or postponement of select U.S.D.A. statistical reports that were affected by the lapse in federal funding.
Most important, the U.S.D.A. canceled its October Crop Production and World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates reports that were scheduled for release on Oct. 11. The next scheduled release of these monthly reports is Nov. 8. The U.S.D.A.’s Crop Progress reports for Oct. 7 and Oct. 15 were canceled. Additionally, the department’s Cattle on Feed and Peanut Prices reports scheduled for Oct. 18 were postponed.
“While the lapse in federal funding has ended, the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has not been able to engage in the necessary data collection and analysis over the past few weeks,” the U.S.D.A. said. “NASS is assessing its data collection plans and evaluating the timing of upcoming reports.”
