NORFOLK, VA. — Bill Germano has been named chief executive officer of Lucy’s, a maker of gluten-free baked foods. Mr. Germano will work with founder and chairman Lucy Gibney to continue the growth of the Lucy’s brand.

Mr. Germano brings experience in building brands in the natural and gourmet foods industry and comes to Lucy’s from soft drink manufacturer Thomas Kemper, where he was president and c.e.o. Prior to that, he held executive vice-president roles at Kettle Foods and Cape Cod Potato Chips. His experience also includes executive positions at Anheuser-Busch, Inc. as part of the development and national launch of Eagle Snacks and at Frito-Lay, Inc.

“We are proud to have Bill onboard as he has an impressive track record of growing sales for snack food businesses in the healthy living space,” Ms. Gibney said. “Having him join our team will allow me to dedicate more time to research and development and building a larger consumer base. We are confident that Bill will help us grow to the next level so we can serve our customers even better.”

Lucy’s offers seven flavors of gluten-free allergy-friendly cookies —  ginger snap, maple bliss, chocolate, chocolate chip, cinnamon thin, sugar, and oatmeal — packaged in both 5.5-oz boxes and 1.25-oz grab and go packs. All cookies are baked without wheat, gluten, dairy milk, butter, eggs, casein, peanuts or tree nuts. Lucy’s cookies are available at more than 7,000 stores nationally, including Whole Foods, Sprouts Farmers Market, Safeway and Publix.
