WASHINGTON — Christopher Clark has been named vice-president of operations for the American Bakers Association, effective Aug. 12. He succeeds Chuck Wellard, who recently departed the A.B.A. for a senior position with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

“Mr. Clark brings a wealth of experience to the A.B.A. team, which will further strengthen the organization and allow A.B.A. to better serve its members," said Robb MacKie, president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Clark is currently vice-president of operations, member services and education for the Snack Food Association, a position he has held since 2005. Earlier, he was marketing manager/development director for the Financial Center Credit Union and manager of industry affairs with the Grocery Manufacturers Association.

“Chris has particular strengths that will be very valuable to A.B.A., including managing membership engagement and development; operations and finance; and managing the snack industry trade show SNAXPO,” Mr. MacKie said. “In expertise, passion and temperament, he will be a terrific addition to the A.B.A. team, especially during this exciting I.B.I.E. year.”

In addition to Mr. Clark, the A.B.A. announced the promotion of Teresa Grant to director of finance. Ms. Grant has served the A.B.A. with increasingly greater responsibilities in her nine years with the organization. She has day-to-day responsibilities for the A.B.A.’s and I.B.I.E.’s finances and leads the budget and audit preparation efforts for A.B.A.’s finances.

“Ms. Grant has seen tremendous growth in her service to A.B.A. and its members,” Mr. MacKie said. “She is A.B.A.’s unsung hero in her efforts to ensure our members can have complete confidence in our financials. It has been one of my greatest pleasures as A.B.A. president to foster Teresa’s growth and development.”

Mr. MacKie also thanked Mr. Wellard for his service over the past eight years.

“On behalf of the A.B.A. professional staff, the A.B.A. members and the I.B.I.E. committee, I want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Wellard for his dedication, passion and incredible service to A.B.A. these past eight years,” Mr. MacKie said. “The true test of an individual is the legacy they leave behind and I can, without hesitation or hyperbole, say that A.B.A., I.B.I.E. and the baking industry are far stronger for Chuck’s efforts. We genuinely wish him success in his future endeavors and know that no matter where his journey takes him, he will remain a passionate advocate for the baking industry.”
