WASHINGTON — July production of edible nonfat dry milk was 115,666,000 lbs, down 12% from June and down 18% from July 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Dairy Products report.
Manufacturers’ stocks of edible nonfat dry milk were 207,478,000 lbs, down 10% from June but up 61% from July 2012. July shipments were 129,019,000 lbs, up 4% from June but down 14% from July 2012.
Output of skim milk powders was 53,131,000 lbs, down 9% from June but up 43% from July 2012.
Total dry whey production was 76,170,000 lbs, up 1% from June but down 5% from July 2012. Production of lactose was 85,755,000 lbs, down 3% from June but up 2% from July 2012. Whey protein concentrate production was 39,080,000 lbs, down 7% from June but up 15% from July 2012. Dry buttermilk outturn was 8,771,000 lbs, down 7% from June but up 26% from July 2012.
Total manufacturers’ stocks of dry whey on July 31 were 67,050,000 lbs, up 1% from June and up 39% from July 2012. Total lactose stocks were 88,867,000 lbs, up slightly from 88,582,000 lbs in June but down 1% from July 2012. Whey protein concentrate stocks were 53,654,000 lbs, down 8% from June and down 7% from July 2012. Dry buttermilk stocks totaled 11,523,000 lbs, down 22% from June but up 3% from July 2012.
Butter production in July 2013 was 134,296,000 lbs, down 5% from June but up 1% from July 2012.
Total cheese production was 909,558,000 lbs, down slightly from 909,788,000 lbs in June but up 3% from July 2012.
Production of regular hard ice cream was 76,980,000 lbs, down 3% from June but up 2% from July 2012. Low-fat ice cream production was 41,939,000 lbs, up 1% from June but down 5% from July 2012.
