NASHVILLE, TENN. — The Bun Companies has entered an agreement to acquire Masada Bakery, an Atlanta-based maker of rolls, buns and hoagies; bread; pastries; bagels; and ciabatta. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Masada Bakery was founded in 1981 by restaurateur Hezi Stein. The company, which has grown to produce more than 400 bakery products on five main product lines, distributes 80% of its products to restaurants, caterers and hotels, and 20% to grocers such as Kroger, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.

“Joining TBC and Masada Bakery will allow the companies to capture more synergies and leverage greater purchasing power,” said Cordia Harrington, chief executive officer of The Bun Companies. “Our complementary product lines will allow you to enjoy additional product offerings, and combining the teams means a sharing of best practices among some of the industries’ leading talent, including product development, supply chain management experience and proven quality management.”

Koby Stein, currently president of Masada Bakery, and Hezi Stein, vice-president of sales and marketing, will remain in their current leadership roles at Masada Bakery.
