CHICAGO — The Heart-Check mark will begin appearing on select Fisher nuts, pecans, walnuts and almonds now that the American Heart Association has certified nine products as heart-healthy. The Heart-Check mark identifies foods that may be the building blocks to a heart-healthy diet.
Studies have shown nuts contain higher amounts of good fats such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and lower amounts of saturated fats. Nuts are also sources of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin E.
“Numerous studies have suggested that eating 1.5 oz per day of most nuts as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease,” said Dawn Jackson Blatner, a registered dietitian. “I always keep nuts in my kitchen cabinet since they are so easy to incorporate into meals, and I love snacking on them, too.”The Fisher brand is owned by John B.
