SECAUCUS, N.J. — Goya Foods plans to open four plants during 2014 in Texas, Georgia, California and New Jersey. The openings are part of a $250 million investment the company is making to support its expansion.

“With the growing Hispanic population and the need for good nutrition, it’s an opportune time for Goya to expand,” said Bob Unanue, president of Goya Foods

A 350,000-square-foot plant in Houston is scheduled to open March 27 and will serve as the prime hub for the manufacturing and distribution of Goya’s bean lines. It will have the capacity to produce 1,000 cans of beans per minute serving consumers west of Mississippi.

A 250,000-square-foot facility in Los Angeles will serve all of the West coast and the 151,000-square-foot plant in Atlanta will serve all of Georgia and the surrounding areas.

Goya's new Northeast headquarters in New Jersey, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014 will total nearly 900,000 square feet and will be Goya’s largest expansion in the company’s history. The new site in Jersey City will feature office space and a warehouse totaling 638,000 square feet.

The company also has renovated its 240,000-square-foot plant in Secaucus that features a new rice packaging line to produce 600 bags of Goya rice mixes per minute, according to the company.

Goya Foods has a wide ranging product line that features such products as beans, olives, corn, tomato sauce, frozen vegetables and more. Almost all of the products are sold under the Goya brand.
