BLOOMINGTON, CALIF. — David Tuthill has been promoted to assistant general manager at Traditional Baking Inc., a contract bakery producing 2 million cookies daily at its 60,000-square-foot S.Q.F. certified facility in Bloomington. Traditional Baking also operates an additional 100,000-square-foot plant of warehousing and distribution space in Redlands, Calif.

Mr. Tuthill has more than 25 years of consumer packaged goods experience, and has spent the past three years as director of sales and marketing at Traditional Baking. He has implemented new programs, entered into new markets, redesigned the packaging for the entire portfolio and re-branded all products under the Baker’s Batch Label.

In his new position, Mr. Tuthill will report to chief executive officer Kathy Voortman and oversee all aspects of the contract bakery process, including cookie manufacturing, production and sales.

Ms. Voortman moved to California in the 1980s with three brothers to launch a West coast division of Voortman Cookies, the Canadian company her father and uncle started together in 1951. Twenty-five years later, the West coast operation is an independent cookie manufacturer with more than 35 different cookie varieties. Traditional Baking specializes in seasonal cookies sold to grocery stores, drug stores and mass merchants nationwide. Some cookies are manufactured for outside customers for use in institutional food service programs, in-store bakeries and other channels.

“I am very proud of the contribution David has brought to our team and he has shown the entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to continuous improvement and has the necessary people skills it takes to succeed in our highly competitive category,” Ms. Voortman said. “With this change, we are well positioned for continued strong growth.”
