DECATUR, ILL. — Archer Daniels Midland Co. is building a sweetener and soluble fiber complex at the port of Tianjin in China, the company said May 19. It will be ADM’s first wholly-owned food ingredient production facility in China.
The sweetener facility should be fully operational in early 2015. The soluble fiber facility should be operational in the second half of 2015.
“Our Tianjin site’s favorable location near large urban demand centers, along with its proximity to rail and water transportation and ready access to feedstocks, will allow it to be seamlessly integrated into ADM’s global origination and transportation network, thereby enabling us to efficiently serve the needs of our valued customers in China and Asia,” said Ismael Roig, ADM vice-president and president, Asia-Pacific.
ADM exports grain to Asia and markets a range of food ingredients and animal feeds and feed premixes through a network of sales offices in the Asia-Pacific region.
