WASHINGTON — Congressman Robert W. Goodlatte of Virginia, who was chairman of the House Agriculture Committee from 2003 through 2006, will address the American Bakers Association board of directors June 11.

Mr. Goodlatte will speak to the group during the A.B.A. Summer Meeting Reception at the National Restaurant Association.

The House member representing Virginia’s sixth congressional district since 1993, Mr. Goodlatte has held a number of leadership roles within the Agriculture Committee, including chairman and ranking member. He also has served as chairman of the Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight, Nutrition and Forestry and ranking member of the Subcommittee on Conservation, Credit, Energy and Research.

The A.B.A. cited Mr. Goodlatte as a longstanding supporter of the baking industry. In 2013, the group recognized the congressman as an inaugural recipient of its Baker’s Dozen Award.

“Congressman Goodlatte has been a go-to champion for the baking industry on a number of important issues,” said Robb MacKie, president and chief executive officer of the A.B.A. “The A.B.A. board will greatly benefit from hearing the congressman’s perspective on sugar reform, the conservation reserve program and ethanol, among others.”
