GWINNETT, GA. — AMF BakeTech, a subsidiary of bakery equipment supplier AMF Bakery Systems, announced the consolidation and expansion of its regional manufacturing and engineering facility in Gwinnett county, metro Atlanta.

The company, which designs and manufactures industrial bakery equipment, including ovens, conveyor systems and continuous proofers, will invest $4 million to consolidate its three existing Atlanta facilities into a newly built, 63,000-square-foot building, expanding its footprint by more than 18,000 square feet. The LEED certified building will house the company’s engineering, operations, procurement, sales and accounting departments.

“We have grown substantially over the past five years across three separate buildings,” said Stephen Smith, president of AMF BakeTech. “This move represents a strategic point for our business that is essential to our continued success. As we consolidate multiple facilities into one, we will now be able to further develop new products and operate more efficiently.”

AMF BakeTech’s products are used in the large-scale production of sliced bread, hamburger buns, hotdog buns and other baked products worldwide by supermarket bread makers and fast-food chains.

“It is a sure sign that our pro-business environment is thriving when innovative companies such as AMF BakeTech expand in Georgia,” said Chris Carr, commissioner at the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “AMF BakeTech reflects the kind of innovation that we seek to cultivate. With a solid network of manufacturing companies, as well as access to advanced research generated by our universities, I have no doubt that AMF BakeTech will continue to succeed in our state.”
