G.H. Cretors releases organic popcorn

CHICAGO — G.H. Cretors is freshening up its popcorn product lineup with the addition of organic varieties. The two new flavors are extra virgin olive oil and salted. Both selections are wet-popped in EVOO. Ingredients are free of bioengineered organisms, artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. G.H. Cretors organic popcorn is available at select natural food and mainstream grocery stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.99 per bag.

Balance Bar debuts Bare line

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. — Balance Bar is releasing a new line of nutrition bars made with whole nuts and fruit. The bars are available in three flavors: mixed berry nut, sea salt caramel nut, and sweet and spicy nut. In addition, Bare bars are non-G.M.O., certified gluten-free, soy free, and vegetarian.

Stonyfield Farm rolls out organic petite crème product

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Stonyfield Farm, a business unit of Groupe Danone, Paris, is launching a petite crème made with fresh cheese from France. “With our organic Petite Creme, we chose to explore fromage blanc because it’s nutritionally similar to Greek yogurt, but has a totally unique taste and texture that feels indulgent even though it’s low in fat,” said Sophie Schmitt, director of marketing at Stonyfield. The product is made with cheese cultures added to organic milk in lieu of yogurt cultures. The 5.3-oz cups come in seven flavors: vanilla, strawberry, blueberry, cherry, peach, strawberry banana and plain.

Lay’s introduces potato chip flavors

NEW YORK — Lay’s, a division of PepsiCo, Inc., is rolling out four new potato chip flavors. The flavors were final options from the “Do Us a Flavor” contest, which gave consumers an opportunity to innovate flavor profiles. The four flavors include: cappuccino, cheddar bacon mac and cheese, mango salsa, and wasabi ginger.

Muscle Milk introduces organic shakes

BENICA, CALIF. — CytoSport, a business unit of Muscle Milk, is debuting Muscle Milk organic ready-to-drink shakes. Each 8.25-oz shake packs in 15 grams of protein and 120 calories. In addition, the shakes are gluten-free and sweetened with organic cane sugar and stevia. Muscle Milk organic shakes will be available nationwide at Target stores.

Kabrita innovates with goat milk yogurt and fruit

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — Kabrita is releasing goat milk yogurt and fruit. The yogurt comes in squeezable pouches and may be found in the baby food department. Goat milk yogurt is available in flavors such as mango peach, banana, and vanilla bean. “Cow milk intolerance occurs when components of cow milk — either the fat, lactose, protein, or a combination of components — are digested poorly,” said Kate Morrison, co-founder of Kabrita North America. “If your little one suffers from this, they will likely tolerate goat milk very well.” Kabrita goat milk yogurt and fruit is available at nationwide retail locations.

Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods adds to baking flour line

PORTLAND, ORE. — Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods is expanding its baking flour line with two new products. The new flours include artisan bread flour and super-fine cake flour. The artisan bread flour features unbleached wheat flour. The malted flour is ideal for baguettes, pizza crusts, dinner rolls, sandwich loaves, pretzels, and bagels. The super-fine cake flour is produced without chemical bleaching or added corn starch. The wheat flour is applicable for baked good recipes such as cakes, cupcakes, pancakes, and flaky pie crusts. Artisan bread flour is available for a suggested retail price of $5.95 per 5-lb bag, while the super-fine cake flour is available for $3.95 per 3-lb bag.

The Good Bean rolls out bean chips

BERKELEY, CALIF. — The Good Bean, Inc. is debuting bean chips with sweet potato and quinoa. The bean chips come in five flavors: sea salt, BBQ bacon, sweet chili, nacho, and jalapeño cheddar. “We want to give consumers a fun snacking experience, and our bean chips are just as addictive and flavorful as conventional chips,” said co-founder Sarah Wallace. “Beans are an amazing ingredient, because they’re packed with protein, fiber and real nutrition, but can be transformed into crunchy chips that rival the taste and texture of the best tortilla chips out there.”

NUWI introduces drinkable quinoa snacks

Suddenly Salad expands with grain salad varieties

MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills, Inc., has released Suddenly Salad grain salad products. The new salad additions may be served warm or cold and contain at least 27 grams of whole grains per serving. The three flavor varieties include: harvest, Tuscan, and southwest. Harvest includes a blend of brown, wild, and red rice along with quinoa, cranberries, almonds, and blush wine vinaigrette. Tuscan grain salads feature brown rice, wheat berries, quinoa, almonds, red peppers, and tomato Parmesan herb dressing. Southwest grains include a mix of brown rice, quinoa, black beans, corn, red peppers, and chipotle vinaigrette. Suddenly Grain salad mixes are available at major grocery retailers for a suggested retail price of $2.69 per package. Each package makes four servings.

Cascadian Farm introduces granola made with organic pea protein

The popcorn variety is made without trans fats, MSG, or preservatives. In addition, each cup of popcorn is only about 50 calories. MySuperFoods introduces MySuperCookies

SUMMIT, N.J.—MySuperFoods Company is debuting MySuperCookies. The nut-free cookies are available in three varieties: chocolate, honey, and blueberry. In addition, the cookies are non-bioengineered and made with super fruits, chia seeds, flax seeds, and coconut oil. MySuperCookies are sold on-line and are in the northeast area Kings, Balduccis, Perelandra, Park Natural, and Union Market.

Kill Cliff announces new protein bar

ATLANTA — Kill Cliff is launching a new line of protein bars. The bars come in four flavors: chocolate chip cookie, salted caramel and almond, strawberries and cream, and mocha almond brownie. All of the bars contain 20 to 21 grams of protein, 13 to 16 grams of fiber, and 2 to 4 grams of net carbohydrates. Kill Cliff protein bars don’t contain artificial colors and flavors, added sugar, or gluten. The protein bars will be available at select retailer stores nationwide.

Pirate’s Booty and Marvel team up to launch Avengers snack

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Pirate’s Booty, a business unit of B&G Foods, is releasing a limited-edition Avengers snack. The Avengers-themed Pirate’s Booty is available in aged white cheddar. The snack is baked with puffed rice corn and aged white cheddar cheese. In addition, the Avengers snack is made without artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors and is free from peanuts, gluten, and tree nuts. The product is available as 12-pack multipacks half-ounce Pirate’s Booty. The snacks are sold at retailers nationwide.

Pillsbury launches fruit strudel

MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills, Inc. is introducing Pillsbury Toaster Strudel, a toaster strudel packed with fruit. The fruit addition is part of the “More Fruit” campaign. Toaster Strudel is working on this in partnership with Halfbrick, the makers of the Fruit Ninja app.
