HOUSTON — Romano’s Macaroni Grill has launched “Fatbreads.” The specialty pizzas elevate the traditional flatbread crust, making a large, “fat” pizza. Each Fatbread is served with a side of arrabiatta sauce for leftover crust.

“In my hometown, crust is celebrated,” said Antonio Iocchi, executive chef at Romano’s Macaroni Grill. “Italian chefs are still baking fat, artisanal, irregular pizzas in open-hearth ovens that celebrate the art of dough making and baking.”

The new “Fatbreads” are available in traditional cheese and pepperoni flavors, as well as other varieties featuring vegetables and meats, including Smashed Meatball (with smashed beef and veal meatballs), Farmhouse (butcher-chopped bacon, prosciutto and sauteed spinach), Pesto Primavera (zucchini, roasted tomatoes, bell peppers and basil) and the classic Margherita (bruschetta tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil).

The pizzas, which start at a suggested price of $7, will be available until Oct. 26.
