PARSIPPANY, N.J. — For the first time in nearly a decade, Post Foods, L.L.C. is bringing Strawberry Honeycomb cereal back to the breakfast table. The cereal first was introduced in 1983 as a crunchy, sweetened whole grain cereal, but in 2002 it was replaced by Strawberry Blasted Honeycomb, a combination of Strawberry Honeycomb and traditional Honeycomb pieces. Strawberry Blasted Honeycomb was only on the market for about a year before being discontinued.

“Honeycomb’s one-of-a-kind playful shape has made the cereal an instantly recognizable breakfast classic,” said Sue Fruzzetti-Reich, senior brand manager at Post Foods. “We’re excited to bring Strawberry Honeycomb back to the market — not only will it be a blast from the past for our current Honeycomb fans, but it will help introduce the brand to a whole new generation of cereal lovers. Honeycomb encourages fans to push their creative limits, while staying true to themselves. Similarly, this new variety stays true to the classic fun of Honeycomb cereal, but with a creative flavor twist.”

New Strawberry Honeycomb combines corn and oat hexagonal shapes coated with strawberry. The cereal contains 8 grams of whole grain per serving, 10 essential vitamins and minerals, and is an excellent source of iron and vitamin D.

Strawberry Honeycomb is the latest cereal to be reintroduced after a lengthy absence from the marketplace. In December, General Mills, Inc. brought back French Toast Crunch, a ready-to-eat cereal that debuted in 1995 but was discontinued in 2006. And in 2013, General Mills revived Frute Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy as part of its Halloween promotion.
