LYNDHURST, N.J. — Dr. Schär USA, a subsidiary of Burgstall, Italy-based Dr. Schär AG/SPA, has revamped its original line of bread and introduced a new style of Artisan Baker bread. The new line has replaced the original Classic White and Multigrain loaves the company previously sold.

The new Artisan Baker loaves are gluten-free, hand-crafted and baked with ancient grains. Crafted by European bakers, the bread contains agave syrup, buckwheat, sunflower seeds and ancient grains. Dr. Schär said the bread will be available in the bread aisle instead of the freezer for the best convenience.

“This new line of artisan baker style loaves is great for anyone — not just those with celiac,” said Hannes Berger, president and chief operating officer of Dr. Schär USA, Inc. “These breads are so delicious that those who do not follow a gluten-free diet will also enjoy them.”

Dr. Schär opened its first gluten-free facility in the United States in July 2012. The 60,000-square-foot facility in Swedesboro, N.J., produces a variety of baked goods, including gluten-free plain and cinnamon bagels, classic and multigrain ciabatta par-baked rolls, and baguettes; hearty white frozen bread; and hearty grain frozen bread.

Dr. Schär AG/SPA has developed and produced gluten-free products for more than 30 years. The company’s portfolio offers a range of products, including bread, rolls, pasta, cookies, crackers and frozen meals. Schär USA was incorporated in 2007.
