KANSAS CITY — Bite-size is blowing up the snacking scene. Top brands are offering smaller portions to appeal to a culture of grazers.

For example, Mars Chocolate North America is introducing a new snack bar that comes pre-divided into four bite-sized squares. The new goodnessknows bars are made of whole nuts, real fruits, toasted oats and dark chocolate and come in cranberry almond dark chocolate, apple almond and peanut dark chocolate, and peach and cherry almond dark chocolate varieties.

Hot Pockets is increasing the snackability of its products with new Hot Pockets Snack Bites and Breakfast Bites. The snack bites come in pepperoni pizza, hickory ham and cheddar, four cheese pizza, and cheesy beef nacho varieties, while the breakfast bites are available in bacon, egg and cheese; ham, egg and cheese; and sausage, egg and cheese varieties.

“Today’s millennials aren’t sitting down to a traditional three meals a day, so the lines have become blurred between meals and snacking,” said Christopher Brody, marketing manager for Hot Pockets. “Our new Hot Pockets Snack Bites and Breakfast Bites offer our fans a bite-sized snack version of the hunger curbing power of Hot Pockets.”

Even the food service industry is buying into the bite-size trend. Auntie Anne’s is offerings Cheddar Stuffed Pretzel Nuggets. The bite-sized snack features Auntie Anne’s’ signature pretzel dough filled with a melted cheddar cheese sauce.
