SEATTLE — A little part of Paris is coming to Starbucks Corp. The Seattle-based company will begin selling cookies made by French baker Michel & Augustin at 25 of its locations in Manhattan, N.Y.
The initiative is part of a test that may be expanded to Starbucks’ locations in France and the United Kingdom later this summer.
Michel & Augustin began selling its baked foods in the New York area in 2014. The company documented its journey to becoming a Starbucks partner on its website.
The partnership with Michel & Augustin comes less than a week after Starbucks announced it is closing all 23 La Boulange retail bakeries and the two manufacturing plants that support the retail locations. La Boulange branded food products will continue to be sold in Starbucks retail locations.
Starbucks acquired the San Francisco-based Bay Bread L.L.C. and the La Boulange brand for $100 million in June 2012.The company currently is selling La Boulange branded products in more than 11,000 of its stores in the United States.
