KANSAS CITY — People love pizza. Even amidst the clean label, vegan and gluten-free trends, the popular pie has prevailed … with some innovation from food manufacturers. Companies are now offering dairy- and meat-free pizzas, clean label pizzas and even pizza-flavored hummus dips.

Daiya Foods and Beyond Meat teamed up to create the “Supreme Pizza,” which combines Daiya’s dairy-free Mozzarella Style Shreds with Beyond Meat’s gourmet meatless sausage. The pizza features a gluten-free crust and contains no dairy, gluten, soy, animal products, cholesterol, trans fats or preservatives.

“With over 22 million vegetarians, a third of the population who is dairy sensitive, and an ever increasing number of people now following a plant-based diet, we are fortunate to cook up our latest creation with industry leader Beyond Meat, who is well known for revolutionary and great-tasting, plant-based products that offer the same taste and texture of meat,” said Michael Lynch, vice-president of marketing for Daiya. “This enhances the taste appeal of our latest Supreme Pizza offering and helps us truly deliver on Daiya’s goal of providing healthier versions of everyday foods people love to eat.”

DiGiorno is introducing its new pizzeria! thin crust pizzas, made with no artificial flavors and a preservative-free crust. The pizzas are topped with cheese, meats and vegetables. DiGornio pizzeria! thin crust pizzas are available in Supreme Speciale, Margherita, Primo Pepperoni, and Spinach and Mushroom varieties.

Sabra Dipping Co. has added Pizza Hummus Singles to its line of dips and spreads. Packaged in single serving 2-oz containers, the hummus blends Sabra’s classic hummus with pizza inspired flavor containing fresh basil and oregano.

“Pizza Singles present a better-for-you option in a flavor Americans want,” said Rachel Zander, associate brand manager for Sabra.
