MEXICO CITY — A little more than a year after acquiring Canada Bread Co. Ltd., Grupo Bimbo S.A.B. de C.V. has announced a change of leadership at the Etobicoke, Ont.-based business. Alejandro Pintado, a longtime executive with Grupo Bimbo, has been named president of Bimbo Canada to replace C. Barry McLean who is leaving the company.
Daniel Servitje, chairman and chief executive officer of Grupo Bimbo, announced the leadership change July 22 during a conference call with investment analysts. He described Mr. Pintado as a “seasoned executive with Grupo Bimbo, with previous roles in our LatAm operation and more recently as vice-president, corporate sales, and president of the Asian operation.”
Earlier in his Bimbo career, Mr. Pintado was general director of the Latin American division. He was the founder and general manager of Bimbo Peru. He also was sales director in Mexico. He has been with the company since 1989.
A graduate of Tecnológico de Monterrey (I.T.E.S.M.) with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Mr. Pintado holds a graduate degree from the Arthur D. Little School of Management, associated with Boston College.Mr. McLean, who Mr. Servitje said has decided to leave the company, had been president of the fresh bakery business of Canada Bread, since October 2000. Before that, Mr. McLean was president of the Grocery Division Canada for Nabisco Brands/Kraft Foods, beginning in 1997.
