CHICAGO — Jim Diver, vice-president of operations for Dunbar Systems, Inc., Lemont, Ill., received the Robert A. Fischer Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Baking during the opening session of the group’s annual meeting and BakingTech 2016.

Given at the discretion of the group’s executive director, Kent Van Amburg, the award honors service to the society. The award winner’s name is kept secret until the announcement. Mr. Van Amburg granted the privilege of revealing that name to Bill Zimmerman Sr., who recently retired as president and chief executive officer of The Long Co. and is a longtime friend of the honoree.

Mr. Diver contributed to the A.S.B. over many years by serving in numerous volunteer roles — program chairman, Z50 committee chairman and member of the board of directors, among others. He continues to assist the A.S.B. as an active member of the Bakers Courtesy Club. He joined the A.S.B. more than 40 years ago.

Mr. Zimmerman described his friend as someone who “gives more than what he receives, who’s always there to assist and a real go-to person.”
