Parabel Lentein plant protein
Parabel's Lentein, derived from a water lentil, won an I.F.T. award in 2015.

HOOFDDORP, THE NETHERLANDS — Barentz, based in Hoofddorp, will be the exclusive worldwide distributor of Lentein plant-based protein ingredients from Parabel USA, Inc., Melbourne, Fla., under an agreement announced April 18. Lentein protein is derived from Lemnoideae, a water lentil. The ingredient may be used in food and feed as well as plant-based personal care ingredients.

Parabel won an Innovation Award for Lentein at the Institute of Food Technologists’ annual meeting and food exposition in Chicago last July. Potential applications include protein beverages and shakes, meat, baked foods, pasta, snacks, soups, and cold-pressed juices. Lentein is non-bioengineered/non-G.M.O. and free from common food allergens.
