PurisPea may be used in such items as baked foods, smoothies beverages and soups.

OSKALOOSA, IOWA — World Food Processing, L.L.C. said it has received a “letter of no objection” from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration concerning the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status of its PurisPea un-hydrolyzed and hydrolyzed pea protein.

The GRAS status confirms the safety of the pea protein isolate for use in foods such as baked foods, cereal, snacks, smoothies, beverages, soups, imitation dairy products, dry instant milk shake mixes and protein drinks, instant powdered nutritional beverages, vegetarian products/meat analogues, and meal replacement bars.

PurisPea, which is grown and manufactured in the United States, is non-bioengineered/non-G.M.O. and devoid of the eight common allergens, according to Oskaloosa-based World Food Processing.
