SOLON, OHIO — Nestle USA collaborated with food truck chefs to develop its newest Hot Pockets offerings. Hot Pockets Food Truck Bites and Food Truck Sandwiches were inspired by menu items from award-winning food truck proprietors based in Los Angeles and Chicago, including Komodo, The Lobos Truck, Baby’s Burgers and Toasty Cheese Mobile Eatery.

“Consumers today are looking for more flavor from food and trying different types of cuisine — and they’re often inspired by international options,” said John Carmichael, president of the Nestle Pizza and Snacking Division, Nestle USA. “Based on the explosion of these trends and the popularity of mobile eating, we wanted to give consumers a delicious and creative new product that brings food truck cuisine to life in their own kitchens.”

Hot Pockets Food Truck Bites are available in four varieties, including Triple Cheesy Bacon Melt Bites, which combines provolone, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses with Applewood smoked bacon and basil in a buttery crust; Smokin’ Bacon BBQ Recipe Burger Bites, which features hamburger, Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar and onions topped with barbecue sauce in a soft-baked crust; Fiery Jalapeño Lime Chicken Rollers, which are bite-size spring rolls packed with dark meat chicken, jalapeños, cilantro, corn and a spicy ginger lime sauce; and Spicy Asian-Style Beef Rollers, which features beef, red pepper and jalapeños with Hoisin sauce in a mini spring roll.

The products are available in grocery stores nationwide at a suggested retail price of $5.99 for Food Truck Bites and $2.29 for Food Truck Sandwiches.

The product line comes about a year after the company opened a new research and development center for its frozen business in Solon. To keep pace with changing consumer tastes, the company has unveiled a series of changes across its frozen food portfolio, including a commitment to remove artificial flavors and reduce sodium in frozen pizza and snack products and the introduction of new Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s entrees that are gluten-free, high-protein or made with organic ingredients.
