KANSAS CITY, KAS. — A fire on July 6 shut down a Kellogg Co. facility in Kansas City, Kas.

“We are in the process of cleaning up the plant and continuing to assess the damage following last night's fire,” said Kris Charles, a spokesperson for Kellogg, Battle Creek, Mich., on the morning of July 7. “We are grateful that no employees were injured and with their help, are working to bring the plant back up as safely and quickly as possible.”

The facility at 801 Sunshine Road makes oil-sprayed and snack crackers under the Krispy and Cheez-It brands, according to the 2016 Directory and Buyers Guide published by Sosland Publishing Co.

Between 100 and 200 employees were evacuated because of the fire, according to a media report from KCTV 5. Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion, but no other injuries were reported, according to KCTV 5. The fire was on the third floor of the manufacturing area, John Paul Jones, chief of the K.C.K. Fire Department, told KCTV 5. Power to the 900,000-square-foot, five-floor building was cut during the response.
