THOMASVILLE, GA. — Amos R. McMullian, chairman emeritus of Flowers Foods, Inc., on Aug. 25 acquired 30,000 shares of the Thomasville-based company, according to a Form 4 filed Aug. 26 with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Flowers said Mr. McMullian purchased 30,000 shares at an average price of $14.99, or about $449,796. As a result of the purchase, Mr. McMullian’s holdings in the company increased by 1% to 3,650,940 shares.

Shares of Flowers have fallen sharply in recent weeks, reaching a 52-week low of $14.35 on Aug. 11. The company’s 52-week high was recorded on Oct. 30, 2015, at $27.31 per share.
