McCain Foods plans to expand its production capacity for frozen french fries in North America.

LISLE, ILL. — McCain Foods Ltd. has announced plans to expand its production capacity for frozen french fries in North America, a move that will add more than 400 million lbs of capacity to its current production.

The company did not disclose where the expansion will take place but indicated that a decision is likely to come in the next few months.

McCain earlier announced investment plans for its specialty potato capacity in Plover, Wis., and in June detailed plans to invest $65 million in its facility in Florenceville, New Brunswick (Canada), increasing its capacity there by more than 100 million lbs of specialty potato products.

Outside of North America, McCain Foods has made similar investments in Europe, increasing capacity to meet increasing demand for its products, the company said.

McCain Foods is the world’s largest manufacturer of frozen potato products, employing approximately 20,000 people and operating 47 production facilities on six continents. A privately-owned company based in Canada, McCain generates annual sales in excess of C$8.5 billion.
