KANSAS CITY – Hostess Brands, Inc. in 2017 plans to start developing and testing nut-containing products at its Indianapolis bakery, which led the company to issue an allergen notification on Dec. 22.

“Hostess Ho Ho’s and Suzy Q’s and all of Hostess’ peanut butter innovations coming in 2017 will contain peanut flour and/or peanuts,” the Kansas City-based company said. “Hostess urges consumers to check ingredient listings and allergen statements on packaging, which has been updated to reflect the addition of these ingredients.”

Consumers may call (800) 483-7253 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. central time Monday through Friday.

While Hostess will use the Indianapolis bakery to explore potential new nut-containing additions to the product portfolio, the bakery will continue to produce Suzy Q’s and Ho Ho’s, too.

Last June Hostess Brands announced it had recalled 710,000 cases of snack cakes and donuts due to the presence of undeclared allergens.
