ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — GeeFree, a manufacturer of natural, frozen, gluten-free puff pastry products, has received a $1 million capital infusion from Procida Funding & Advisors, L.L.C. The new funding will be used for sales, marketing, advertising, in-store samplings, public relations, building a broker network, distribution, product development and an e-commerce web site.

GeeFree was founded in 2013 by partners Susan Hougui, a food consultant, and Steven Leyva, a master baker. In addition to the capital infusion, Procida has enlisted several individuals to join the GeeFree management team, including Michael Getoff as chief operating officer. Mr. Getoff will oversee the company’s efforts to expand into supermarkets, specialty stores, restaurants, e-commerce sites, club stores and caterers around the United States.

GeeFree manufactures and co-packs its products in Northvale, N.J. The company’s products include Franks in a Blanket, Spanakopita, chicken pot pie, cheeseburger bites and raw pastry dough. GeeFree also plans to launch a line of microwavable pocket sandwiches in the second quarter of 2017.
