Lesaffre Yeast Corp. on May 2 broke ground on a new blending facility in Cedar Rapids.
 

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA — Lesaffre Yeast Corp. on May 2 broke ground on a new blending facility in Cedar Rapids. The facility will be located on five acres and will include a large production and blending area, offices and warehouse.

Lesaffre said it will make enzyme blends, concentrates and dough improvers under the Saf-Pro ingredients brand at the facility. The products will be supported by the company’s existing Baking Center located in Milwaukee.

“We are proud of the latest investment to increase our capabilities to meet the needs of our baking customers,” said Tom Benner, president of Lesaffre Yeast. “Our Saf-Pro line of ingredients made in this facility will serve commercial, artisan and food service customers with the superior quality, clean label ingredients they have grown to expect from Lesaffre and Red Star.”
