CHICAGO — Conagra Brands is introducing Healthy Choice Power Bowls, a line of frozen entrees featuring global flavors and on-trend ingredients. Available in four varieties, each bowl contains more than 16 grams of protein and 6 to 8 grams of fiber. Previously a so-called diet brand, new Healthy Choice offerings were developed to align with today’s consumer perceptions of health and nutrition.

"Our approach insists that every ingredient matters," said Alan Brooks, associate brand manager, Healthy Choice. "Every Power Bowl is made with an intentional combination of whole grains, mixed greens, vegetables, and natural proteins catering to people living an active lifestyle."

Healthy Choice Power Bowls are available in four varieties.

Varieties include the Adobo Chicken Bowl, featuring pulled chicken breast and vegetables with rice, quinoa and barley and a guajillo chili sauce topped with roasted pepitas; Korean-Inspired Beef Bowl, with braised beef, shiitake mushrooms and vegetables on rice, quinoa and barley with a spicy gochujang and soy sauce and black and white sesame seeds; Cuban-Inspired Pork Bowl, with braised pork loin and black beans and vegetables on rice, quinoa and barley with a sofrito sauce; and Chicken Sausage and Barley Bowl, featuring apple and gouda cheese, chicken sausage and vegetables on barley with a roasted garlic sauce.

The products are packaged in serving bowls made from plant-based fiber rather than plastic.

“It performs very well coming out of the microwave, being much cooler to the touch than the plastic container itself,” said Darren Serrao, chief growth officer of Conagra Brands, last October during the company’s investor day. “And for added bonus, knowing how consumers are very concerned about sustainability, these are completely recyclable and entirely compostable, which allows us to drive sustainability by eliminating plastic from single-use containers, reducing energy, and our impact on the environment to boot.”

Mr. Serrao said the new range is inspired by restaurant trends.

“ … You would find many fast-casual or casual establishments that are serving these power bowls,” Mr. Serrao said. “They are available nationally, and these are meant to replicate that kind of consumer experience.”
