A healthy focus

Consumers worldwide are becoming more health-conscious. Not only are they looking to avoid certain ingredients, but they are increasingly interested in adding in certain things for health reasons, such as fruits or chia seeds. Alternative flours are also a big area of exploration from bakeries large and small.

“In recent times, the trend of weight loss and being healthy is witnessed all over the world,” said Atul Kumar, lead analyst for food research, Technavio. “The impact of this trend is most prominent in the food and beverages sector. In order to meet the health requirements of consumers and to differentiate their products in the market, vendors are coming up with products made with whole wheat, whole grains or multigrain.”
