MISSION, KAS. — The Redwood Group, L.L.C., an employee-owned commodity merchandising and supply company, has acquired two facilities from Lathrop Feed & Grain, Inc. The facilities are located in Lathrop and Pleasant Hill, Mo.

With the completion of the acquisition, the companies have begun operating the grain facilities as Lathrop FSG, LLP, with Redwood as the majority owner. According to the companies, FSG stands for Food, Seed and Grain.

The Missouri facilities include more than 1 million bus of grain space with cleaning, sorting and bagging capabilities for non-bioengineered and organic grains, Redwood said.

“We are excited to work with The Redwood Group to grow the business with their market contacts and capital to invest in the local facilities,” said Stacey Evans, general manager of Lathrop FSG. “We will continue to provide excellent local customer service while investing to bring more marketing options for the local producers.”

Michael T. Kincaid, president of Redwood, expressed his excitement with the partnership.

Redwood was formed in 2010 with a focus on trading whole grains, specialty crops and energy products throughout the United States and Canada. The company also exports products around the world.
