VEVEY, SWITZERLAND — Cereal Partners Worldwide (C.P.W.), a business unit of Nestle S.A., has begun to roll out ready-to-eat cereals in the United Kingdom featuring the U.K. government’s color-coded labeling scheme.
The labeling system, often referred to as a “traffic light” system, features red, amber and green color-coded boxes, which indicate the amount of energy, sugar, salt and fat that are in a product.
While C.P.W. is introducing the new labeling this month, a full roll-out is expected to be completed by early 2018, Nestle said.

“We are proud to offer consumers nutritious and tasty cereals to enjoy every day,” said Gharry Eccles, U.K. regional vice-president of C.P.W. “We have provided consumers with clear nutritional information in a monochrome format on front of pack for many years. The decision by C.P.W. to adopt color-coded labeling in the U.K. aligns the Nestle cereals range with what has become the common U.K. labeling scheme. It is also in line with other Nestle products in this market, providing consumers with a consistent approach to nutrition labelling in the U.K.”
Stefano Agostini, chief executive officer of Nestle U.K. and Ireland, applauded the decision by C.P.W.
