ASB
ASB and Burford will be collecting packages until Nov. 30.

Inspired by Burford Corp.’s efforts to aid soldiers overseas, the American Society of Baking (A.S.B.) in unison with Burford has rolled out the charitable initiative Operation Military Care Packages.

In September 2015, Burford began sending care packages to troops abroad after employee and National Guardsman Kent Turner saw a soldier’s social media post about not having received anything from home. Since then, the company has shipped out more than 50 packages totaling hundreds of pounds.

With Veteran’s Day and the holidays quickly approaching, the A.S.B. is asking its members to participate by filling boxes with food, snacks, letters and personal care and entertainment items and send them by Nov. 30.

The care packages are intended to provide soldiers with the comforts of home and to lift their spirits while they are abroad and away from their families.

Businesses interested in participating can collect donations in a centralized location at their facilities and reach out to Megan Sutton at msutton@burford.com for addresses to send care packages.
