WASHINGTON — The average price paid for white pan bread decreased 3.3c per lb in November, while the price for whole wheat bread increased 1.5c per lb, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor.

The national average retail price of white pan bread was 129.5c, down 3.3c per lb from October and down 6.7c from November 2016. The average retail price of white pan bread has now fallen 5.4c per lb over the past two months. On a month-to-month basis, the average price for white pan bread in November decreased in three regions — down 6.6c in the South, down 3c in the West and down 0.9c in the Northeast — and increased in one region — up 0.1c in the Midwest.

At 202.4c per lb, the national average price for whole wheat bread was up 1.5c per lb from October and unchanged from November 2016.

The national average price of family flour in November was 46.9c per lb, down 3.1c from October and down 3.8c from November 2016.

The national average price for spaghetti and macaroni in November was 124.2c per lb, down 1.7c from October and down 6c from November 2016. Chocolate chip cookies were 363.9c per lb, up 12.8c from October and up 27.3c from November 2016. The national average price of white long-grain rice was 71.2c per lb, down 1.1c from October but up 0.9c from November 2016.
