WASHINGTON — For the 2008-09 season, all-orange production in the United States was estimated at 9,115,000 tons (210,400,000 boxes), down slightly from the December forecast of 9,149,000 tons and down 10% from the 2007-2008 final utilization of 10,167,000 tons (236,814,000 boxes), the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest

Florida all-orange production was forecast at 7,290,000 tons (162 million boxes), down 2% from 7,425,000 tons in December and down 5% from last season’s final utilization of 7,659,000 tons (170.2 million boxes).

The all-orange forecast for California was 1,744,000 tons (46.5 million boxes), up 6% from the previous forecast but down 28% from last season’s production of 2,419,000 tons (64.5 million boxes).

The Florida frozen concentrated orange juice yield was forecast at 1.62 gallons per box at 42 degrees Brix, up 3% from December but down 3% from last season’s final yield of 1.67 gallons per box.
