Through its commitment to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), DuPont Nutrition and Health becomes the first company to offer certified-sustainable emulsifiers. The company described the difference between certified segregated (SG) and mass balanced (MB) emulsifiers: SG products are made only with palm oil from RSPO-certified plantations, while MB products may be mixed with conventional oils at each stage of the supply chain. The company’s DuPont Danisco ingredient range offers both SG and MB emulsifiers. The company pledged to sustainably source 100% of its palm-based materials by 2015, the same timeline adopted by many large retailers and food companies for their own sustainable sourcing projects.
