A new white paper from the American Egg Board reports the scientific evidence proving real eggs in their natural state — in the shell — are not bioengineered or GMO. It notes that even when hens consume genetically modified feeds, none of the proteins related to those modifications pass through to the eggs. Shell eggs are the basis for further processed eggs used as ingredients in food manufacturing. And when produced without added ingredients, the liquid, frozen and dried forms of whole eggs, yolks and whites are GMO-free.
