TORONTO – The SunOpta Ingredients Group, part of the SunOpta Food Group, has expanded its product portfolio to include MultiFiber blends, SunOpta soy fiber blends and SunOpta pea fiber.

The MultiFiber blends provide value for food and beverage manufacturers who are looking for ratios of soluble and insoluble fibers similar to what occurs naturally in foods. The MultiFiber blends deliver a concentrated source of dietary fiber with a smooth texture and bland flavor, according to SunOpta.

The soy fiber blends provide a combination of functional fiber and protein that has been shown to increase yield and moistness and maintain a desired firmness in meat products. The new and proprietary blends use soy fiber that is sourced internally and derived from SunOpta’s vertically integrated soymilk process.

Best Cooking Pulses, Portage la Prairie, Man., will produce pea fiber under the SunOpta brand, according to a distribution agreement. Pea fiber is made from the hulls of field-dried peas and is a byproduct of pea splitting.
