CANTON, MASS. — Dunkin’ Donuts has launched the "Create Dunkin’s Next Donut" online contest, which allows consumers a chance to create an original donut for the chance to win a $12,000 grand prize and have their donut sold nationwide.

"Donuts, perhaps more than any other food, lift people’s spirits and bring genuine delight to any situation, whether it’s a busy meeting at work, weekend errands or just a quick escape from the daily grind," said Frances Allen, brand marketing officer. "And now more than ever, Americans are seeking those small moments of happiness. With our new Create Dunkin’s Next Donut contest, donut value offers and new flavors, we’re creating more opportunities for people to come together to celebrate donuts and help spread some joy in very easy, affordable and fun ways."

The contest lasts through April 7, and those interested can go to www.DunkinDonuts.com/donut to build a virtual personal donut. A dozen finalists will be selected to participate in a bake-off, and the public will be invited to vote for their favorite. The grand prize winner will be announced on June 5, which is national donut day.

Dunkin’ is also introducing a new special donut value promotion as locations nationwide will offer a donut for 49c with the purchase of any medium or larger hot coffee. In addition, the company has introduced two new donuts — Berries n’Kreme and Dunkin’ Delight. Berries n’Kreme is a Bavarian crème-filled donut topped with strawberry icing and berry bark sprinkled on top. The Dunkin’ Delight is a decorated donut that features a yeast ring with chocolate icing and pink and orange sprinkles. Both new donuts are available at participating stores through April 21.
