DENVER — Atkins Nutritionals, Inc. is introducing Atkins All Purpose Baking Mix and Atkins Penne Pasta, products the company said are lower carbohydrate versions of similar products on the market.

"With the Atkins All Purpose Baking Mix and Penne Pasta, we’re providing consumers with a wider range of healthy and delicious foods to enjoy as they embrace a low-carb lifestyle," said Jennifer McGhee, vice-president of marketing for Atkins Nutritionals. "For years, people mistakenly thought that on Atkins, they’d never be able to eat bread or pasta again. Now with our new products, it’s possible to enjoy lower carb versions of these foods without relinquishing taste."

Atkins All Purpose Baking Mix will be available beginning Aug. 1 at Atkins.com for a suggested retail price of $12.99 for a 2-lb pouch. Each serving of the baking mix has 1 gram of sugar, 20 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber, 150 calories and 5 grams of net carbohydrates.

Atkins Penne Pasta is made with enriched semolina wheat and comes in a 12-oz package that will retail for $3.99. Each serving of the pasta has 1 gram of sugar, 11 grams of protein, 18 grams of fiber, 140 calories and 19 grams of net carbohydrates.
